GENERAL DON'T FEED THE ANIMALS | SPRING / SUMMER '12

General, a brand hailing from London today prepare to unleash some new pieces to the world  with a combination of tees & headwear for SS'12. The small collection titled 'Dont Feed The Animals' (DFTA) is inspired by skate, rock music & British punk culture, celebrating the rebellious sub-cultures that have lead streetwear to where it is today. 
I can see these new releases from General being staple summer wardrobe pieces.

MIDWEEK SESSIONS / BANK HOLIDAY SUNDAY

Double whammy from us this week for all Sheffield gang! We're real excited for this coming,Wednesday sees the launch of our new midweek sessions down at the lovely surroundings of The Great Gatsby bar. It'll be a weekly thing, kicking things off from 9pm, we'll be shaking a leg to some cuts that'll sound perfect in the sun, along with The Great Gatsby's 2-3-4 midweek offers on beverages. 

Fast-forward a few days & you can catch myself, Scifi & Danny Beck at Bungalows & Bears this Bank Holiday Sunday, again with the usual vibe.. soul / funk / disco / hip hop 

Come down & join us for a drink. I'll be honest, it'll probably be something like this.

Y'OH STREETWEAR | TEE RELEASE

So this past weekend saw the release of London based Y'OH Streetwear's new tees. As with all Y'OH pieces, you'll have to act quickly to get your hands on these. 

JAM CITY | CLASSICAL CURVES LP (NIGHTSLUGS)

It's no exaggeration when we say that this must be one of the most eagerly anticipated releases for a long long time. Also released today is the Jam City LP out on Nightslugs, brilliantly titled 'Classical Curves'

This is a record about elegance, violence, electricity, water, marble, plants, trenchcoats, oily black jeep windows, crashed motorbikes, parks at twilight, clubs in the dark, broken DX7s and missed phone calls, written and recorded over a hot summer in a cramped flat with neighbours having sex through the walls. “Classical Curves” comes from a teenhood spent obsessively listening to both Prince and Youngstar, a tumultuous period as a performance artist-cum-designer marketing ‘chrome body extensions’ to the fashion world, and a brief and bizarre spell as a corporate spy for a well known athletics brand.

TEEN CARNAGE | DOWN FOR EP (TIPPING POINT MUSIC)

Preview now to the next release on Tipping Point music from Teen Carnage. Released today, the 'Down For' EP features a total of 4 tracks, which sample R&B classics & completely change their sounds. 


"Inspired by the frenetic energy of footstep with the tempered musicality of post-dubstep, they create a framework of highly textured, weaving melodies over dense rhythms. The result is Down For, a collection of 2 original tracks and 2 remixes by producers Anex and Wonky Ninja."

∆DMIN | WHATEVER YOU WANT (FORTHCOMING GLASGOW UNDERGROUND)

New one from went up last week on soundcloud from ∆dmin . Track goes by the name of 'Whatever You Want' & forthcoming on Glasgow Underground. In terms of the music that he's been putting out over the last few months, ∆dmin never seems to disappoint with this one taking the path of a smooth housey production.

REAKTOR | EP PREVIEW (4TH JUNE, DIRTY TRAINERZ)

Nottingham based producer Reaktor has popped up with us before, his track 'You're Not Ready' catching our ears a few months back now.

He's at it again this time with the track titled 'I Was Here' set to be part of an EP forthcoming on the Dirty Trainerz label. Heavily influenced by the garage sound, Reaktor's productions float between garage & grime so the EP release scheduled for June 4th is one we're very much interested to see the outcome of.

HANTU COLLECTIVE | SUMMER LINE VIDEO TEASER

Sheffield based Hantu Collective offer a preview to their collection for this summer with a video teaser at their studios with some brilliant new tee designs. The new line's set to be released from 00:01am on Monday (28th May) & by the looks of feedback already today you'll have to act pretty sharp.

NO UNIFORM & BAD TASTE W/ LIL SILVA, TERROR DANJAH | SATURDAY 26TH MAY

A preview now of this weekends events that we're very much looking forward to. Our pals down at No Uniform team up with Bad Taste to bring a stellar bill to Sheffield. Last time they linked up was last year to bring Lunice to The Harley & on this occasion they bring Lil Silva & Terror Danjah down to Plug in what looks set to be a real interesting evening with probably two of the most exciting producers in the UK at the minute along with the Sheffield sound in the way of Darkstorm, Squarehead & also the launch of the new single from Walter Ego.

Lil Silva, hailing from Bedford ('ang tight Bedfordshire crew) seems to always effortlessly blend sounds genres in his productions, creating a distinctive sound that through its heavy percussion & high energy references sounds of grime & funky house. 

That gritty, raw elements of grime combined with the undeniably addictive dancefloor pushing sounds has graced Sheffield on previous occasions to great effect & seen Lil Silva with EP releases on the brilliant Night Slugs imprint. Take a listen to a recent soundcloud upload of 3 unreleased tracks & one of our favourite, his rework of the track by SBTRKT & Sampha 'Living Like I Do'


 

Terror Danjah. Where do you start? Having helped launched the careers of a whole load of artists that grace the airwaves commercially & on the underground through running the Aftershock label early on in his career, working with the likes of D Double E, Skepta, Wiley & more along the way.

Following on from that, he went on to work with Kode 9, putting out music on the Hyperdub label & bringing his sound across the UK, Europe & beyond with shows. Having helped Elijah & Skilliam by being the first release on their Butterz Label which has 12 months down the line without doubt become the forefront go to place for all things grime orientated. Aside from producing, Terror Danjah got back into a feel for his own label to put music out from exciting artists out of the UK which saw the birth of Hardrive, an imprint that works closely alongside Butterz. As the event write up puts it..

Now with everybody's full attention and working alongside Hyperdub & Butterz and the young producers from Hardrive, it is time to call Terror Danjah the Godfather of the reborn Grime scene.

As if that wasn't enough audio pleasure, as we mentioned earlier, also on the bill are local producers, Darkstorm, Walter Ego & Squarehead who's recent Keep It Moving EP on Bad Taste was a glimpse of where things look to be going for the house infused sound his productions have taken. 

Having received support with his new material from the likes of Disclosure, Mosca & a whole host of others, you're in for a treat. Next up, Darkstorm. Affiliated with the Bad Taste label, he's a guy who's production work we've featured before. His sound draws influence from people such as Hudson Mohawke, Madlib & more, combining a Hip Hop sound with heavy bass & a more experimental approach.

Last but by no means least, a preview of the latest from Walter Ego. This Saturday 26th May also sees the release of the brilliant 'She's A Myth' as well as the collaboration track with 2046 titled 'Hand In My Hand' 


So this Saturday also acts as the single launch party for these Walter Ego productions to be put out on the Bad Taste label, available via Boomkat, Juno & Bandcamp.

JESSIE WARE | WHAT YOU WON'T DO FOR LOVE

The latest from the beautiful Jessie Ware went up  via soundcloud during the sun this afternoon. With Sampha on the production, Jessie Ware lends her vocal to this r&b/soul/hip hop sampled classic. Still very much excited about the album release from the London based vocalist, stay tuned for info on that

NIKE AIR MAX 1 'LEOPARD' PACK | FALL 2012

A quick look now at the Fall 2012 release from Nike with the classic Air Max 1 shoe. Available in two colourways, as pictured above, the black uses a subtle leopard print design detail & also uses the infra-red lining on the upper whilst the white / grey uses a contrast red. 


The release scheduled for later this year is actually a women's release (sizes up to 9.5) but I'm pretty sure you'll be seeing a few blokes squeezing into them & rightly so. Get a look at more images below & leave us a comment with your thoughts
